What to expect
More ups and downs than a roller coaster. Heptonstall is at the top of one hill and the midpoint is at the top of another so you've got a deep dip to negotiate. Twice.
There's a right mix of terrain - cobbles to start with, then you have some grassy fields, muddy slope, rocky bridleway and open moorland, some of it pathless. Trail shoes or studs? If you can get your hands on a pair I'd recommend the new CobbleClaw™.
